Whether it’s your first time in the capital or you’re entertaining guests from out-of-town…
Escape Manor’s crew is in love with Ottawa! We polled them for their top suggestions on best ways to introduce visitors to the Nation’s Capital, and these are their suggestions:
Discover the City by Bike...
Escape Bicycle Tours offer bike rentals and guided sightseeing tours across Ottawa and Gatineau. With various distances and paces available, this is an activity suitable for recreational cyclists or families with young children. Their routes can take you to Rideau Falls, the Governor General’s house, the Rideau Canal, Landsdowne Park, and the Arboretum. They even have a Double Escape tour that includes a trip to Escape Manor...
Tour the Streets, and the River!
You haven’t travelled across Ottawa until you’ve taken a tour on an Amphibus. Lady Dive offers guided tours across the capital’s stunning sights on land… and through the Ottawa River! Lady Dive also has partnerships for reduced admission with the Canadian Museum of History, the Canadian War Museum, the Museum of Nature, and the National Gallery of Canada. If you’re interested in a tour and an escape, be sure to visit their Combo Tours page…
Explore The Diefenbunker!
The Diefenbunker was commissioned by Prime Minister John Diefenbaker during the Cold War, to allow the government of Canada (and the CBC) to operate underground for up to 30 days in the event of a nuclear attack on Canada. The site was completely decommissioned in 1994, and has been painstakingly restored by volunteers from Carp. The Diefenbunker, now Canada’s Cold War Museum, hosts group tours, a Spy Camp for kids, exhibits about life in the bunker… and their 100,000 square foot underground facility is home to the world’s largest escape room.
Take a Brew Donkey Tour!
Traditional tours of Ottawa often overlook our city’s more than 35 craft breweries and brew pubs. The most enjoyable (and responsible) way to see (and taste) all of that beer is through a trip with our friendly neighbours at Brew Donkey. When you book a tour, Brew Donkey’s bus takes you directly to three regional breweries where you will sample local brews, OR they’ll take you to two breweries followed by a different activity off the beaten path—such as axe throwing, roller derby, or… one of our escape rooms. Explore Hintonburg!
If you are visiting Ottawa for the first time, don't just see the downtown core! Within walking distance of Little Italy and the Westboro Village, Hintonburg is the neighbourhood to explore if you're looking for independent shops, restaraunts, and small artist-run galleries. Hintonburg is also where we've set up Apocalypse 2.0, a unique hour-long escape experience for twelve players!
